Cows coming home. This picture was taken in the late 1970's.The herd is shown here coming past the pond on its way down from the basin just before milking. You will notice there are little paths in the pasture. They always walk on these paths for some reason. Many of them are over a hundred years old. Those of you who have never cared for them could not imagine the amount of abuse these animials can heap upon their owners, or the monumental amount of effort which goes into their upkeep. For those of you who don't know, they are holstiens, they are the ones with the black and white spots. |
